Customer points and tiers, straight from the till you already use.

Poinpas records points on every sale and turns them into a discount at the till. You decide what a point is worth, how customers earn it, and where each tier starts. FreeKasir connects first, and other point-of-sale apps can join through the API.

Poinpas is still being built and sign-up is not open yet. This page explains how it works.

You hold the rules.

Poinpas has no rewards catalogue. It counts points, keeps the balance, and returns a rupiah value when points are redeemed. You set every number.

Example settings

  • 1 point per Rp 1,000 spent
  • 1 point is worth Rp 1
  • Up to 50% of the bill

Points

Set how much spending earns one point, and what one point is worth when redeemed. You can also cap how much of a bill points may pay.

Example settings

  • Silver from Rp 2,000,000, 1.25x points
  • Gold from Rp 5,000,000, 1.5x points

Tiers

Tiers rise with total spending after discounts. Each tier multiplies points, so loyal customers earn more from the same purchase.

Example settings

  • Expire 12 months after earning

Expiry

By default points never expire. If you set an expiry period, it counts from the day the points were earned, and the oldest points are used first.

From the pay button to points on record.

The till talks to Poinpas at three points. If a sale is cancelled along the way, the points go back to the customer.

  1. Hold points

The customer wants to use points. The till asks Poinpas to hold them, and Poinpas answers with their rupiah value to take off the bill.

  2. Confirm after payment

Once payment goes through, the till confirms. The held points are now spent.

  3. Record the sale

The till sends the sale with its transaction number. Poinpas counts the new points using the rules in force at the time of the sale.

If the sale is cancelled

The till releases the held points and they return to the balance. Points that are never confirmed are released after 15 minutes.

What keeps the numbers right

  • Resending never doubles points

The same transaction number from the same store is counted once.

  • Corrections carry a revision number

A new revision reverses the old count and counts again. An older revision arriving late is ignored.

  • Two tills, one balance

Holding points checks and records in one step. Two stores redeeming for the same customer at once cannot overdraw the balance.

  • History is never rewritten

A cancellation is written as a reversing entry. Every change to a balance traces back to its sale.

  • Offline tills keep their day's rules

A sale sent late is counted with the rules in force when it happened, up to 7 days back.

Many stores, one points programme.

One Poinpas account can serve several stores at once, including several separate FreeKasir accounts. Customers carry the same balance to every store in that account.

  • An API key per store

Each store has its own key. A leaked key can be revoked without touching the other stores.

  • Reports per store

See which store points were earned at and which store they were redeemed at.

  • One set of rules

Point value, tiers and expiry are the same for every store in an account.

  • Any phone format

0812, 62812 and +62 812 are recognised as the same customer.

Questions that come up

Do I have to use FreeKasir?

No. FreeKasir is the first app connected, but a Poinpas account stands on its own. You can use cashier mode at app.poinpas.com, or connect another point-of-sale app through the API.

What if a sale is cancelled after its points were used?

The points used go back to the customer, and the points earned on that sale are taken back. If those points were already spent on another sale, the balance can go negative for a while. New points pay that off first, and the customer cannot redeem while the balance is negative.

How are tiers counted?

From total spending after discounts, excluding tax, service charge and the part paid with points. You choose the period: lifetime, or a rolling window such as the last 12 months.

If I change what a point is worth, what happens to existing points?

Redemption uses the rules in force when points are redeemed. Changing the value of a point changes the value of every point already earned.

What customer data is stored?

The customer identifier (such as a phone number) and a name if you add one. Consent is asked at the till. On the customer's request, their data can be anonymised without deleting the points history.

Sign-up opens once seller accounts are ready.

In the meantime, the API specification is open to read if you want to connect your own point-of-sale app.
